Congratulations to Brother Tom Barton on receiving Sigma Phi Epsilon’s highest honor—the Order of the Golden Heart!
Tom was a key part of our chapter’s founding, and without his perseverance and involvement, SigEp WI-Theta would not have taken the steps to establish ourselves on the UW-Platteville campus.
Speaking to Tom’s impact across the brothers of WI-Theta:
“To put it simply, we would not exist without Brother Tom Barton one day thinking to himself that there should be a SigEp chapter at little old Platteville. How appropriate in our 25th year and celebrating our third Buchanan Cup in a row that the man who started it all is awarded our Fraternity’s highest honor. Congrats Brother Barton, you are more than deserving of this recognition.” – Brother Chris Yerges, WI-Theta AVC President
“Wisconsin-Theta is like a beautiful antique Victorian home. Today, the chapter stands strong due to the contributions of both past and present members. Maintaining a stable and grounded house during challenging times is a strong foundation for alumni support. But long before the house was built or the foundation was poured, plans were drafted by an architect. The architect must envision the house, how it will be used, and what problems may arise. Tom Barton is the architect of WI-Theta. The chapter would not exist without Tom and his vision of what WI-Theta could be. Tom’s impact on the chapter extends far beyond just initial chartering. For 25 years, Tom has continued to support WI-Theta through programming, visits, hosting events, and encouraging members to attend national events.” – Brother Ian Seidler, WI-Theta Chapter Counselor
